Liquorice Original Painting

This piece was my first portrait in this style on canvas and was a joy to paint from start to finish. The composition is inspired by some of Elena Gual's early portraits, as I wanted to capture the beauty of the subject, and the glow of the ochre brushstrokes of her complexion, against a simple setting. 

The strands of hair shaping her face, and plaits down her neck are lovely synonyms with the curves of my Wavism style.

I couldn't be more thrilled with my first venture into Portraiture.
